Yesterday marked our 6th month on the wait list! Woo hoo! Although we’re excited to be one month closer to bringing our little girl home, we are sad that we aren’t as close as we had hoped. Recently, we found out that the wait time has increased, so it looks as if it will be a longer wait than we originally expected. Ethiopia has a rainy season, and during this time, the court system temporarily shuts down (early August through October). Due to the recent increase in wait time, our court date will now probably occur after the rainy season, which would put our daughter coming home in the early winter, more than likely. This could always change in either direction, but this is our best estimate for now.
We’ve had sad moments, but we’re trying our best to keep a positive outlook on these changes. We’re so ready to have our daughter home, but we’ve had to remind ourselves that God’s timing is different than our own. He views things from a different perspective and sees the whole picture, not just what we want right now, but what is best for our lives. Of course, it’s easy to forget this sometimes!!
The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps. Proverbs 16:9
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
So grateful that we serve a God who loves us & cares about every detail of our lives! We’re praying that we will not dwell on the length of time, but instead soak up what He has for us to learn during these extra months of waiting. Speaking of learning…one of the things that we’re looking forward to is the Idea Camp conference we’ll be attending at the end of the month. The conference’s focus is bringing people across the nation together to talk about orphan care & what we can be doing to help. Should be awesome! There are still tickets available – hope to see you there!

Can't believe we're at 6 months! It sort of seems like it's gone by fast and it sort of seems like it's taken forever, huh?! You're right though, even though we thought we'd be closer to our girls by now, we ARE one month closer. Praying for you and our girls.
